The army will manage Narela Quarantine Centre in Delhi during April 16. The army said on April 19, that the Narela Quarantine is under the management of Army. The Army Medical team is already taking care of the Narela Quarantine Centre since April 1.
The Army said, “From April 16, the Army started to manage the facility from morning 8.00 a.m. to an evening at 8.00 p.m. This will bring big relief to the Delhi Government Doctors and medical staff to manage the facility only during the night. The Army team of 40 personnel which includes six medical officers along with 18 paramedical staff have decided to stay within the premises only,”
The Army stated that currently, 932 members attended the religious congregation in Nizamuddin area in Delhi is being taken care at the facility. Out of whom 367 have tested COVID-19 positive.
The whole staff is very cooperative and positive to the Army medical team. Therefore everything is running normally. There is smooth handling of all medical procedures, the Army stated.
Army also added there had been tremendous cooperation with civil administration to run this entire facility. The Narela centre established by the Delhi government in the middle of March.
Narela Quarantine Centre
Narela Quarantine Centre is among the largest centre in the country for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The centre was established in the mid of March by Delhi government.
Narela happens to be the site of a battle that took place in January 1757 between the Maratha Army. The battle was led by Antaji Mankeshwar and an advance column of Ahmad Shah Abdali’s army. The battle won Maratha Army.
Markaz Patients
Initially, around 250 foreign travellers were kept in this centre. The strength of the patients increased to 1,000. They were the members of Tablighi Jamaat shifted here from Nizamuddin Markaz.
The inmates of the centre convinced the members of the Jamaat to cooperate with them. They won the heart of inmates. Therefore all the medical procedures were running smoothly. Presently, 932 members of Markaz Jamaat taken care of in the facility. Out of them, 367 have tested COVID positive.
Army extending help
The Army is also providing help by running its quarantine centres for civilians at Jodhpur, Jaiselmer and Manesar. They will even provide medical cover with the civilian centre at Narela.
For isolation and treatment of the COVID-19 patients, 50 armed force hospitals are running as dedicated COVID-19 hospitals. Mixed COVID hospitals has issued.
The hospital’s bed capacity is of 9,038 patients. Around 100 medical officers from recruiting organisations instructed to work in hospitals where COVID wards established.
A list of retired AMC officers and paramedical staff is ready. They may requested to participate for working in military hospitals at their current home stations in case the need arises. 43 officers and 990 paramedics have volunteered till date.
The Army will fight with this pandemic till the last breath. The Army will provide every possible help that they can to combat this crisis, stated Army.
