New Delhi: In India, there were 6,358 new cases of Coronavirus reported on Tuesday, the health ministry reported, bringing the total to 75,456. In the latest report from the health ministry, the number of Omicron cases has risen to 653 and at least 186 people have recovered.
Delhi reported 331 new Covid cases, one death, and 144 recoveries in the last 24 hours, with its active caseload standing at 1,289. The city has recorded the most cases of Omicron in the country (142), followed by Maharashtra (141), Kerala (57), Gujarat (49) and 43 (Rajasthan), the health ministry said in a bulletin.
The national capital has activated the graded action plan prepared earlier this year to tackle surges in infections. It brough back night curfews yesterday.
India’s active caseload currently stands at 75,456, with a dip of 385 such cases, the health ministry said. Active cases in India account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.22%, the lowest since March 2020.
Recovery rate in the country now stands at 98.40%, the highest since March 2020.
The government with 6,450 patients having recovered from Covid-19, in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has risen to 3,42,43,945.
The daily positivity rate, at 0.61%, has been less than 2% for the last 85 days. The weekly positivity rate in India, at 0.64%, has remained below 1% for the last 44 days, as per ministry data.
A total of 67.41 crore tests for Covid detection have been conducted so far.
Also, as many as 142.47 crore vaccine doses have been administered in India so far under the nationwide vaccination drive, the bulletin added.
