While most of the world is still in a celebration mode to enter in a new decade, the health sector started facing a challenge of a new virus which took a life in Thailand recently. Coronavirus, which is a respiratory virus emerges in China in the beginning of the year, but it has reached to Thailand and caused one death.
World Health Organisation (WHO), states that the victim who reached Thailand was from Wuhan, China where a 61 year old already died from the virus. This traveler got hospitalized in Thailand of January 8th. According to Thai authorities, the patient is recovering from the illness.
According to a report published in The Telegraph, a 61-year-old man in Wuhan became the first person to die of the new virus, while seven more remain in a critical condition after they contracted the illness linked to a seafood market.
Some 41 people have been confirmed as having the virus – down from the 59 thought to be infected last week.
News that Chinese authorities discovered a novel virus has already raised concerns internationally, with some fearing a repeat of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic that emerged in China in 2002.

Another virus from animal!
Coronavirus rely on animal to human transmission, and the health commission in Wuhan has reportedly declared that there is no evidence of any spread between humans.

Meeting is called
However, given recent developments, WHO chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is planning to consult with the members of the agency’s Emergency Committee, and could call for a meeting of the Committee at short notice. In its Monday statement, WHO noted that it has been expecting cases to be reported in countries other than China, underscoring the importance of monitoring and preparedness in other countries.

What are the symptoms
WHO has issued guidance on how to detect and treat persons ill with the new virus: standard recommendations for halting the spread of coronavirus include regular hand washing; covering your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing; thoroughly cooking meat and eggs; and avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness, such as coughing and sneezing.

Although the virus is just found in China and Thailand but being a South Asian country India has to be aware about the disease so that people could check on the symptoms.
