To enhance the herbal wealth of India and to support a clean and healthy environment, PM Narendra Modi has called for planting at least five trees either on office campus or wherever it is possible to ensure a clean and healthy environment in the country. Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent charge) Prahlad Singh Patel called for organising “Sankalp Parva” and planting trees as desired by the Prime Minister. Ministry of Culture has decided to celebrate Sankalp Parva and will continue July 12, 2020, wherein the ministry expects all its subordinate offices, academies, attached institutions, affiliated institutions to plant trees on their campus or in the surroundings wherever it is possible. The ministry has also recommends to plants five trees which have been identified by our Prime Minister, they are:

  • Bargad (Ficus benghalensis)
  • Awla (Phyllanthus emblica)
  • Pepal (Ficus religiosa)
  • Ashoka (Saraca asoca)
  • Bel (Aegle marmelos)

The Union Minister has also urged the organizations that they must ensure that each employee must plant a tree of his/her choice. In addition to this, the above-mentioned trees must be planted as per Prime Minister Modi’s call. The Union Minister further added that the institutions must also ensure that the employee takes care of plants planted by them during the year so that it survives and flourishes.

“Monsoon season has started in India, which is the right time for plantation,” Patel said during the announcement of the Sankalp Parv campaign that the COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of a clean and healthy environment. He said that India’s herbal wealth has enough strength to enable us to sail through the period safely. He has urged everyone to participate in the campaign and take care of at least one plant to create a healthy environment and a flourishing India.

He also urged everyone under this initiative to plant a tree and share its photo with #SankalpParv or #संकल्पपर्वwith the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
