Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s herbal medicine company Patanjali Ayurveda has claimed to launch the first ‘Made in India’ Ayurvedic medicine for treatment of COVID-19. The Ayurveda based pharmaceutical company launched a kit containing ‘Coronil’ tablets, Swasri tablet and Anu oil, claiming that these ayurvedic medicines have shown up to 100% favourable results during the clinical trials. At a launch press conference in Haridwar, Ramdev said that the trial of the medicine was conducted on 280 patients out of which 69% patients recovered within 3 days and 100% recovered within 7 days.

Talking about the medicine Ramdev said that ‘Coronil’, made out of Ayurvedic elements such as Ashwagandha, Giloy, and Tulsi, could cure coronavirus positive patients within a few days with daily morning and evening dosages. Ramdev said the medicines can be ordered online through a mobile app from next Monday.
Patanjali Ayurveda Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna says that Ashwagandha does not allow the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the coronavirus to bind to the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in the body. In this way, the coronavirus does not enter the cells of the human body. At the same time, the general immunomodulatory nature of Giloy would enhance innate immunity against COVID-19 infections. Tulsi attacks COVID-19 and prevents it from growing. Patanjali said that the Coronil tablet contains Giloy, Tulsi and Ashwagandha which helps control diabetes and blood pressure while strengthening the immune system.
Very soon, an app will be launched for the delivery of the Corona kit. The price of the kit is kept at Rs 545 which will last for 30 days, Patanjali CEO said. He also added that people should practice Yoga, and keep oneself healthy through a proper diet to boost the immune system.
But soon after the launch of Patanjali’s claimed Ayurvedic treatment, the company was told by Ayush Ministry to stop advertising or publicising any such claim in the absence of requisite approval. This only means that Patanjali cannot sell the product.
